The Essex Steam Train is operated by the Valley
Railroad Company. Take a ride in these 1920's coaches that are pulled by
an authentic steam locomotive. The river boat Becky Thatcher, cruises
along the Connecticut River. Also has a Gift shop, snack shop, and runs
special events.
Gillette Castle

Grounds FREE, Castle: Heritage Passport allows the bearer to gain
admittance to three facilities (Dinosaur,
Fort Trumbull and Gillette Castle State Parks)
for a one time visitation until Columbus Day of the calendar year in which
it was purchased. Children ages 6 -17 are $5.00, adults over 18 years are
$12.00, and children under age 5 are free. The Heritage Passport can be
purchased at any one of the three facilities.

Hiking, picnicking, camping and of course a
visit to the wonderful Gillette Castle are some of the things you can do
at Gillette Castle State Park. A twenty four room mansion reminiscent of a
medieval castle, was at one time the home of William Hooker Gillette,
playwright, director, and most famous for his portrayal of "Sherlock
Holmes". Take a guided tour, then head out for a picnic lunch on the
beautiful grounds.
